Taiwan’s jobless rate dropped more than expected in January, figures from the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics, or DGBAS, showed Thursday.
The unemployment rate fell to a seasonally adjusted 3.78 percent in January from 3.82 in December. Economists had forecast the jobless rate to edge down to 3.8 percent.
On an unadjusted basis, the unemployment rate dropped by 0.08 percentage points to 3.71 percent in January.
The number of unemployed persons decreased by 9,000 compared to the previous month to 430,000 in January.
The labor force participation rate fell marginally to a seasonally adjusted 58.60 percent from 58.64 percent in December.
