South Africa’s producer price inflation slowed for the fifth month in a row in September to its lowest in nine months, figures from Statistics South Africa showed Thursday.
The producer price index for manufactured goods rose 6.9 percent annually after a 7.2 percent rise in August. It was in line with economists’ expectations.
The latest figure was the lowest since December last year, when it was 6.5 percent.
Month-on-month, producer prices edged up 0.1 percent in September. That also matched economists’ expectations.
