Romania’s trade deficit narrowed in January as exports surged, figures from the National Institute of Statistics showed Thursday.
The trade deficit narrowed to EUR 176.4 million in January from EUR 252.6 million in the corresponding month of the previous year.
Exports rose to EUR 4.186 billion from EUR 3.936 billion in the same month of the previous year. Also, imports climbed to EUR 4.363 billion from EUR 4.189 million.
On a month-over-month basis, exports grew 10.2 percent while imports dropped 4 percent in January.
