Romania’s industrial production increased from a year ago, led by strong growth in mining output, data from the National Institute of Statistics showed Friday.
The industrial production index rose a working-day adjusted 4.7 percent year-on-year. Mining output grew 9.5 percent and manufacturing output increased 5.6 percent. Utility sector output declined 5.5 percent.
Among the main industrial groups, capital goods production grew 10.9 percent and durable goods output rose 8 percent. Intermediate goods registered 6.8 percent growth.
On an unadjusted basis, industrial production remained flat from the same month last year.
Month-on-month, industrial production declined a working-day and seasonally adjusted 2.7 percent, dragged down by a 3.5 percent fall in manufacturing. Mining output rose just 0.4 percent. Output in the utilities sector grew 4.6 percent.
Unadjusted industrial production decreased 20.2 percent from the previous month.
