At 4:30 am ET Tuesday, the Office for National Statistics is set to publish U.K. quarterly national accounts for the second quarter. The U.K. economy is expected to grow 0.7 percent sequentially after rising 0.4 percent a quarter ago.
Ahead of the data, the pound showed mixed trading against its major rivals. While the pound retreated against the euro and the yen, it held steady against the Swiss franc. Against the U.S. dollar, the pound fell.
As of 4:25 am ET, the pound was trading at 0.7122 against the euro, 1.4980 against the Swiss franc, 1.5537 against the U.S. dollar and 192.03 against the yen.
