Portugal’s consumer confidence strengthened for a second straight month to its highest level in nearly 13 years in February, as households’ expectations on the financial situation and savings as well as the view on the general economic situation improved.
The consumer confidence rose to -21.2 from -21.9 in January, data from Statistics Portugal showed Thursday. It was the highest score since May 2002 and extended the pronounced upward trend observed since the beginning of 2013, the agency said.
The overall economic sentiment indicator was steady at 0.3 as improvements in morale in manufacturing, construction and trade were offset by a deterioration in confidence in the services sector.
