Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil&Gas, Telecoms and Technology Hardware&Equipment sectors led shares higher. At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 3.41%. The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which rose 6.02% or 0.40 points to trade at 7.08 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) added 5.53% or 1.20 points to end at 22.82 and ASML Holding (AMS:ASML) was up 5.40% or 4.15 points to 81.00 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AMS:GTO), which fell 12.27% or 9.06 points to trade at 64.79 at the close. Vopak (AMS:VOPA) declined 0.51% or 0.19 points to end at 36.83 and TNT Express (AMS:TNTE) was down 0.04% or 0.003 points to 7.528. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 185 to 34 and 2 ended unchanged. The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 15.20% to 29.71. Crude oil for October delivery was up 8.58% or 3.31 to $41.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 7.59% or 3.27 to hit $46.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.20 to trade at $1122.40 a troy ounce. EUR/USD was down 0.87% to 1.1217, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.7286. The US Dollar Index was up 0.71% at 95.98.
