Malaysia’s unemployment rate held steady in August, figures from the Department of Statistics showed Monday.
The unemployment rate came in at 3.2 percent in August, the same rate as in the previous month. In the corresponding month last year, the jobless rate was 2.7 percent.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate also remained unchanged at 3.3 percent in August.
The number of unemployed people decreased to 453,600 in August from 459,900 in the preceding month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 379,700.
The labor force participation rate climbed to 67.8 percent in August from 67.5 percent in July.
