The Australian dollar weakened against the other major currencies in the Asian session on Wednesday.
The aussie fell to more than a 2-1/2-month low of 95.12 against the yen, from yesterday’s closing quote of 96.27.
Pulling away from an early 2-day high of 1.4383 against the euro, the aussie edged down to 1.4532. At yesterday’s close, the aussie was trading at 1.4415 against the euro.
Against the New Zealand dollar, the aussie slipped to 1.0503 from yesterday’s closing quote of 1.0550.
The aussie, which ended yesterday’s deal at 0.8164 against the U.S. dollar and 0.9757 against the Canadian dollar dropped to a 6-day low of 0.8097 and a 2-day low of 0.9707, respectively.
If the aussie extends its downtrend, it is likely to find support around 94.00 against the yen, 1.46 against the euro, 0.79 against the greenback, 0.95 against the loonie and 1.03 against the kiwi.
